Today President-elect Obama announced Arne Duncan as his nominee for U.S. education secretary. Duncan is currently the chief executive for Chicago Public Schools, but he will now move to a national position.

Unfortunately, the Harvard grad couldn’t live up to the constraints of the English language in his acceptance speech today. As Michelle Malkin points out, a mistake would be one thing if it was in an impromptu speech, but Duncan was reading from a prepared text. Yikes!

Here’s a 14-second clip showing his flub (”my sister and I”):

Despite his flub, I must admit that I like the pilot program Duncan instituted in Chicago. The merit-based program paid teachers based on their abilities, as gauged by a combination of test scores and peer reviews. I need to read more on the plan, but the concept is a great one.
