As a 22-year old male, in the prime of his life, I was certainly not the target of a book written by a 55-year old woman describing how to feel your best at any age. I wasn’t the target audience, yet I came away surprised at how much I enjoyed What’s Age Got to Do with It? by Robin McGraw.

Mrs. McGraw, wife of the famous TV personality, Dr. Phil, wrote this book to encourage women that age has nothing to do with how healthy or happy their life should be. In nine chapters, she covers nine subjects ranging from fitness to hormones to faith.

Each of the nine chapters is well-written in a light, personal style. There are many short stories from Robin McGraw’s life, as she is not shy about sharing her own experiences. Mrs. McGraw has a gift for making her point without being either too repetitive or too brief; each of her chapters ends just when you are feeling ready to move on.

At the end of every chapter is a section written by an expert on the topic. Each expert answers self-help questions and offers suggestions for how the reader can easily improve various areas in their life.

Overall, the book was surprisingly captivating for a self-help book, and I plan to pass this one on to some of the women I know and love. It is a perfect blend of encouragement and advice, bound into one easy read.

My mom had a copy of her first book, Inside My Heart, and I began reading it one day. I was also surprised by how well written and entertaining it was. It had some really good advice as well. It’s pretty funny that you had to review this book :)

Haha, I agree. It was quite funny to review the book, but I really did enjoy most of it (I’ll admit to quickly scanning through the chapter on makeup).
